Who is Ameen?

My name is Ameen Altajer and I do programming and game development professionally, whenever I have the time I do enjoy playing guitar.

I’m the founder of the game development scene in Bahrain under the name of Bahrain Game Developers (BGD), I work with a fantastic team that is made of fantastic passionate volunteers helping me in getting Bahrain to my ultimate game development vision.

What does Ameen do?

I’ve been doing programming for more than fourteen years now, I love how programming just ticks your mind and allows you to come up with solutions to various sets of problems ranging from the very easy to the weirdly complicated. I’ve worked with many languages such as: C, C++, C#, Objective C, Java, Visual Basic, VB.NET, Lua, Intel Assembly (IA32), JavaScript, PHP, XML, HTML and XHTML and ASP.NET, but the ones that I’m really fluent in are: C, C++, C# and Java, I do respect performance and elegance, that’s why I try to focus on the C family, I have my reasons.. believe me.

I love to experiment with lots technologies, tools and computer-related fields like: .NET, OpenGL, Direct3D, XNA, Unity3D, Unreal Development Kit (UDK), PSX, PS2, PSP, PS3, PS Vita, Linux, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Reverse Engineering, Network Programming, Debugging, Build Tools, Cross Platform Development, Virtualization, Security and as you guessed.. WordPress.

I’m still on the look for more technologies to work with.

Game Development
Game development is my ultimate passion, I do admire everything involved in it, from the different kinds of programming you have in there to the very sophisticated plots lead by remarkable characters, it’s just so beautiful how all of those professions and talents can blend in to produce such a masterpiece.

I’ve been doing freelancing for game development for quite some time now, it’s very nice to help people to get them close to complete their dream projects, I’m currently working on my game project “Deadgear” along with fantastic professionals, we’ve been working on it for more than two years now, I post a lot of updates about it in here.

I do understand how hard it is to get a good grip in this industry because it’s not your ordinary one, I remember myself gathering the bits and pieces all over the web and libraries to understand what a “game loop” actually is and all of that nonsense jargon that I used to hear about while trying to learn how game development is working. That’s why I wanted to create a local community here in Bahrain, where people can go and discuss everything related to game development in all of its aspects.. and I did, the local game development community in Bahrain: Bahrain Game Developers (BGD) has been gaining momentum since it came out to light on December 2012, I just get goosebumps everytime I hear people talk about BGD and respect the endeavor and the progress that we made so far, check the scene news in here: http://www.bahraingamedevelopers.com.

Music is a part of my life, I just can’t begin to imagine if music didn’t exist in world, it drives my feelings, my emotions and it allows me to express myself through so many dimensions.

I’ve been playing for almost ten years now, I do respect true and meaningful music ranging from classical to rock and roll and my all time favorite.. metal, as for the other genres of music, there are ones that I understand and many that don’t make any sense to me.
